A WEEKEND IN MAZAGÓN

This weekend I have gone to Mazagón, which is a small village placed 18 kilometres away from Huelva. In this village once a year there is a party or as they call it, "romería" in order to honour the Virgin of Carmen who is the Patron Saint of sailors. As a sailor village people there love and venerate this Virgin. They have a lot of songs about her.

The "romería" takes three days. Women wear a different "tradicional" dress each day, the first day they wear the new one and the other two days those that have been worn in previous years. Each dress costs from 80 to 100 euros if you make it and if you have to buy it you will have to pay from 300 (out of season) from 600 or 700 euros (from this season). No-one women, including kids, wore other clothes just me, of course.

The first day consists of walking 7 kilometres with the Virgin. The way takes 5 or 6 hours and during the way some people go by car and all kind of vehicles following the Virgin. In the vehicles there is a lot of food because at the middle of the way they stop to eat.



The other days there are different celebrations. In this celebration each person goes with her/his group in a "caseta" and spend the day eating, drinking, dancing sevillanas and singing. It is a show.



It is an experience you have to live because it is very difficult to explain how it goes and the feeling of the people.

Last day there is a mass to say goodbye and the next weekend they are going to do the 7 kilometres again to return the Virgin to her place.

To sum up, the most shocking things for me are two: it is amazing how much religious they are and the fact that it doesn't matter if they spend all the year paying for this party, it is just a weekend and they have to celebrate it although a lot of them don't earn enough to cover the expences. So, they have to save a bit of money each month to pay for it.

Of course, each person has his own preferences about how spending the money, don't they?

I was reading your post and I began to write a comment but when I see that it was so long I decide to write a post.

The item you chose it is very interesting for me and I totally agree with you.

I'm tired to see this news at the TV and when I am listening to the news I feel very depressed. How coud be people like this?

But I think it isn't only a particular case, I think people is getting crazy.

In everyday situations you can see how people act and I think we are more violent day a day and more unpatient; it's really very sad see how we are everyday less friendly.

Last day I see a young women that was pushing a wheelchair with a man and she hit another man who was walking in front of the wheelchair and he began to shout saying: "Are you blind or what happens?". I think this is a good example about day a day actions as a result of being nervous all the day and we forget words like sorry or it doesn't matter.
I'm really very upset because I think we are losing the kindness.

As in all the situations we can't generalize but I think this is the tendency of the society; maybe because of our stressed lifes we act using violence because we are angry with our boss or with another person and we want to shout to being relaxated but, this is not the correct way.

So people before answer in a bad way inhale and you'll be more relaxed to be a kind person.

LOVING AND BEING LOVED

Do you think it is important in a relationship the physical attraction? Do you think it is more important being crazy about each other or being a good friends?

Firs of all, what is the definition of love? I think there are a lot of differents kinds of love but I would like to talk about the love between two persons; this two persons days before they were strangers and now they would like to pass all their lives together... I think this is very beautiful but amazing at the same time.

I always think about what are the reasons or the things to take into account that make people be in love after being 30 or 40 years together. I suppose talking and listening to each other even when you are tired are important but also the respect, the mutual admiration and have common interests or do things jointly.

NAMES

I like my name and I think it is quite popular but sometimes I wonder about if it has helped me in my life.

Some people think have a popular or beautiful name can create a good stereotype, so your name can influence you to get a better job or have better luck than if you have an old-fashioned or a bad name.

The differences begin at the school because having a bad name is a reason to be punish by other children and it might make you more insecure but when you are older it can influence you to get a job o have more friends; having a good name can make you a person more atractive to other people and all in all a happier person.

Nowadays people choose their children's name from series, films or celibrities. I think is very dangerous because names that now are popular could be old fashion or comun names tomorrow.

In conclusion, choosing a name for our children is a serious work and could change their lifes, so parents, you must take it into account.
